Being someone who has not used a painting brush or touched paint since elementary school, this project was both challenging and lot of fun. Never would have guessed I'd enjoy it as much as I did. It was very interesting when I started mixing colors. I did know mixing colors would make different colors but never imagined what types of colors they would make. Mixing four paints in different amounts each time made 20 different colors, to me, was very impressive. I guess it pleases me to say that I'm starting to enjoy the whole introduction to the arts even if this class is as far as I go in the field. It might sound a bit funny or redundant to the seasoned art enthusiast but not to me.

The Color Wheel - color mixing (no black)

Kiss
The Artist's Statement on this Art work explains how Muslims were also casualties of the 9/11 attacks. It doesn't matter from what way of life a person is from, the "American image" is made up of all walks of life.
As a combat veteran with my own personal experience, I must admit that I did have some sort of hatred towards Muslims and everything they represented. Took me a while to realize that all the hatred I had towards them was based on stereotypes. It wasn't until I talked, dined, shared tea, even prayed with them, that I realized that they were just as simple and honest as any other person.
All other exhibitions, I believe only enhanced our memories of how horrible that day was. This to me and many others who think like me was the only piece that brought forth some sense of peace, tranquility and closure.
